Day Five (25.05.2012)
Time: 1hr 15mins prep + 45mins bakingYield: 1 x family-sized pie
Friday night, perfect time to try out the apple pie filling canned last Monday! The pastry was crunchy, melt in your mouth - not the same pastry as I usually make (this is a new recipe I am trying) but it did taste pretty damn nice! Oh and don't forget to start preparing the pie 2hrs or so before you want to serve it as you need to allow time for the pastry to be refrigerated etc. One thing I will look at is making the filling less sweet next time I do a batch of apple pie filling ...
Ingredients:
1 3/4 cups plain flour
1/2 cup self-raising flour
185g unsalted butter (I used margarine)
1/3 cup caster sugar
2 eggs (fresh from our chooks!)
1 tbsp milk
cinnamon sugar, to sprinkle
1/2 cup self-raising flour

1/3 cup caster sugar
2 eggs (fresh from our chooks!)

Yum! A slice of homemade apple pie with a scoop of icecream :-) |
