Rushed for time when entertaining? Smother brie (or other cheese of your choice) with a rich berry jam, cover in pastry, bake and serve!
Ingredients:
1 wheel of brie
1 sheet of puff pastry
2 tablespoons berry jam
1 teaspoon maple syrup
Pinch of brown sugar
Method:
- Place brie in the middle of the pastry sheet.
- Spread brie with jam.
- Wrap pastry around brie to make a parcel. Drizzle with the maple syrup and sprinkle with brown sugar.
- Bake until golden (around 15-20 minutes).
- Serve warm with apple slices or crackers.
TIPS:
- See brie on sale? Pop into the freezer until ready to use - no need to thaw (in fact, it is better to use frozen cheese).
FLAVOUR IDEAS:
- Brie with Mulberry Jam, Blackberry Jam or Boysenberry Jam;
- Gouda with Apricot Jam.
SERVING IDEAS:
- Crusty bread, crackers or apple slices.
